DVI PADA SIRSASANA

Arm Balances

Difficulty:

Description

DVI PADA SIRSASANA Asana group: complex poses Translation of the name from Sanskrit: • dvi — two; • pada — foot; • sirsha — head. 1. Setup Starting position: Dandasana. Take the right shin and foot with both hands and bring the leg behind the head. Holding the right shin by the foot with the left hand while supporting on the mat with the right hand, bring the right foot behind the left shin. Keep the legs crossed. Place the palms at the level of the thighs and straighten the arms, holding the balance with both legs behind the head. Advanced variations: • bend the arms at the elbows and hold the balance on the hands with the torso at a minimal distance from the mat, parallel to the floor. 3. Safety • The neck and back may round too much, which can cause protrusions and hernias — perform the simplified version. • Knee of the top leg: with insufficient rotation in the hip joints, the twisting happens in the knee joint. If discomfort appears, use the simplified variations.
