GARBHA PINDASANA

Sitting & Lying Asanas

Difficulty:

Description

GARBHA PINDASANA Asana group: sitting poses, balances Translation of the name from Sanskrit: • garbha — womb, embryo; • pinda — fetus, a round lump. 1. Setup Starting position: Padmasana. Slide the hands between the calves and the thighs, bringing the palms out. Take the palms to the cheeks, fold the elbows in front of the chest. Round the back like an embryo. On the exhale, keeping the lotus tight, roll onto the back and then forward onto the sitting bones. Breathe evenly. Then unfold the legs. 2. Simplified and advanced variations Simplified variations: • hold the knees with the hands instead of sliding them through; • rock only slightly. Advanced variations: • roll in a full circle several times. 3. Injury prevention Rock only on the rounded back, protecting the spine. Do not roll onto the neck or the head. Slide the hands through gently so as not to squeeze the knees.
